Final Commentary

"Broken",  is in slot #5 because the number itself has the most meaning to me, specifically the 5 people in my family represents unity, or in this unusual case of the painting it expresses the broken unity. Originally I want to use the full name of, "The Dead Relationship", but changed it to, "Broken", to illustrate how ironic it is that I portrayed myself chained to broken memories. Piece #3, " Betrayal", is also another memory regarding the whole family and I used the train in it because the specific betrayal happened when half of my family was in a different location. "Complications", is in slot #6 and deals with my personal internal complications regarding my health. The intense oozing heart represents the pain and emotional level I was feeling at the time before, during, and after my heart surgery. Both numbers 1&11 encompass my entire theme of works. They are, "Transportation", and " Multi-Directed". Together they bring the idea of the journey I have experienced and how I have taken multi-directed roads in the process of it all. Finally, "Acceptance", was the bright future I wanted to put in and express through the warm colors which emulate my over joyous feelings towards my hopeful and bright future. It is slot #12 because it represents my last stop I take before I let the future take its own un known course in my life.

I wanted the warm and cool colors to illustrate the seclusion that the warmer tones bring versus the un aware cool toned people in the background.

~ My Final and Finished Artist Statement ~

My meanings in my art work personally derive from my families internal struggles and growth. Through my work I want to convey the personal transportation through my life with specific, "stops", in my life. My vision will be shown and expressed through mood and specific imagery. By using certain memories that stick out to me, this will show who I am as a person and what I hope to become in my future.
